The Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre (MTC) was named after Hungarian born director John Hirsch who co-founded the theater with Tom Hendry in 1958. MTC is the country's oldest English-language regional theatre and the most visited institution after the Shaw and Stratford festivals. The bronze statues of Hirsch and co-founder Tom Hendry can be seen in front of the entrance.
