Created by Roy J. Hamill, the sculpture commemorates the contributions of Hungarian immigrants to Alberta since the 1890s. The memorial was erected on the campus of the University of Calgary in 1994. In 2006, a plaque was added commemorating the heroes of the Revolution and Freedom Fight of 1956.
