Founded in 1985/86, the Society began to construct its current building in 1988. The construction was finished within a year and the Society could start operating in the newly erected building in 1989.
The aim of the Society is to promote Hungarian heritage, language, and culture, as well as to help its members find a home in the Canadian society. The Society organizes various events, including commemorating national days, concerts, excursions, and clubs for both young and old.
